Information about transportation-related research conducted in other states and nationally is available from a variety of sources. Here are some of the most useful sites for finding transportation research information.
State DOT Custom Google Search – This is a custom search tool that can be used to limit searches to only state DOT websites. It can be helpful in finding information about research, but also can be useful in finding other information such as planning documents, manuals, and specifications.
Transportation Pooled Fund Website – Provides information about all completed and active pooled fund projects, which are collaborative projects involving multiple states and FHWA. Click on the search tab to find projects by study number or keyword. You can also find information about proposed projects by clicking on the Open Solicitations tab.
Transportation Research Board (TRB) Publications – Provides links to a variety of TRB publications including:
Transportation Research International Database (TRID) – TRID is the largest database of completed transportation research in the world with more that 1.1 million records. TRID contains information about research on all modes of transportation conducted both nationally and internationally.
Research in Progress (RiP) Database – RiP provides information about active transportation research projects being conducted by federal agencies, state DOTs and universities.
US Department of Transportation (USDOT) Research Hub – Provides information about research supported by USDOT and its various agencies. You can enter a search term on the main page or click on the Advanced Search tab to limit the search to specific agencies like the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
National Transportation Library (NTL) – Managed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, NTL is USDOT’s central repository for USDOT research and technical publications.
